i know kaaz have their own specific oils im not sure they have their own for a fwd application but i would assume they do
Kids,
I am looking for some advice / experience / feedback in respect to LSDs
I have an AE101 GZE in my AW11 and the existing LSD is FUBAR i assume its a factory mechanical LSD will post some pics on monday.
I need to make a decision on what to do.
The car is making 140 kw at the wheels and is also recieving a new Exedy HD ceramic button clutch at the same time.
I use the car on the road to and from work a few times a week and roughly one a month on the track for Supersprints and the like. probly about 6000ks a year
The advice i have from Castle hill Toyota is that the diff cant be fixed / repaired / shimmed and they suggest getting a TRD LSD and wna to rip me off about $1500.
For a KAAZ 1.5 the damage is about $1400 and i can have it in a couple of days.
The feed back i have for this application so far is to go the KAAZ, just keen to hear some other ideas from anyone with experience in this area.
Also on this topic would appreciate some feedback on the appropriate oil to use in the transaxle with this combo. The gearbox is currently running Castrol Sntrax (will confirm the grade Castle Hill Toyota also reccomended this oil) and works really well hot or cold but i dont know if it may have been the demise of the LSD.
From some others that i know have had probs getting a good compromise between a good shift and good hook up from the LSD
Thanks

looked at the cusco's? they seem to have a nice-ish design. (spring preload stuff)

I have a brand new TRD one. $1100. At least you can buy parts for them. no rebuild parts available for the others.
Thanks for the responses kids.
4agte, yep i know KAAZ supply oil to suit , was just wondering what peoples experience may be with it in respect to the gearbox side of things and shift quality. after having a range of oil in mine and other peoples experience with E51 boxes getting a good compromise between a nice shift and good LSD hood up seem difficult to get.
Old Corrolas, nope forgot about the Cusco actually. Where can i gat them from in Sydney and any ideas on the prices?
Terryyo, The best price on a TRD i have so far is $1500 where do i get one for $1100
heres some pics

try here http://www.nengun.com/drivetrain/
their prices are usually pretty competitive.
or http://www.greenline.jp/
If greenline don't have the part you want listed, email them and they'll let you know if they can get it or not... most times they can![]()

cusco have two to choose from, the MZ and RS. Both lockup the same after a bit, but hte RS has a lower initial torque afaik. I think the RS is the 'streetable' version and MZ is track spec.
no more aw11
mx73 and brap brap time now
I use the MIG version, you can find them at your local hardware store, its pretty harsh tho but yet a hellla ov a lottta fun....he he...
However i think the front wheel 3sge and te diffs fit is this true....
Robakka, With comments like that i can see why you have neg rep HAHAHAHA
Terryo, Thanks for your help i would have taken the TRD off you but the mechanic had allready ordered the kaaz and it had been delivered![]()
Thanks for all the input everyone i will let you all know how it goes if i ever get the car back ..................................

OK update,
The kaaz is in and seen heaps of punishment, highly reccomend them, hooks up beutifully and consistantly, chirp on full lock just, otherwise very smooth. been changing the fluid every 12 months = exxy but worth it, gear shift is great with this fluid as well![]()

what oil do you use, the KAAZ genuine or something different?
and Toyota say to only use Toyota genuine... hence my question
Yep i have been using the kaaz oil.
The mechanic i know that put it in for me has been using kaaz diffs for a while and only reccomends using the kaaz oil, has seen them have a short lifespan otherwise.
Oh the other thing is you are suppose to change it every 5000 ks![]()
An since putting it in thats only been once![]()
