OH GOD.
lets start with what brand are these "coilovers"
Most of the ones you will getout of japan wont be able to be serviced here.
What car is this for?
hey,
i need some coilover advice im buying some front used coilovers for my car, and one of the front ones is leaking oil.
are most coilovers easily servicable, and can i just reseal the seal where it leaking from?
does anyone know the cost involved in reconditioning a coilover? any recommended places in sydney that deal with coilovers?
thanks

sorry mate
the brand is called ZEAL made in japan
zeal suspension system
The car is a 1994 180sx
cheers
no hope of having them serviced in aussie or japan.
best bet for a good setup would be get some koni yellows and build your own struts.
and stay clear of RCAs unless you like more bump steer
thanks
damn that sucks

ok sammy tell me what commonly causes bump steer? and tell me how a RCA doesnt do that.
it says they can be overhauled inhouse. problem is the damper units used in alot of these are not always of a common design. konis bilsteins etc are well known and quite a few places will be able to rebuild them but there is no telling what damper is used in these.
you may get lucky and find somone who can identify them or find a damper to replace it with, but its really not that had to have them fabricated

End Rant.
Anyways, you are lucky to own a car with many many options for your coilovers. I wouldn't see it worth while fabricating your own coilovers. Look into Racing Logic. Have heard reports around these in the drift scene.
Good luck with it, get them in and enjoy.
No your front end geometry should be setup PROPERLY. which is dont by the maker.
coilovers often get followed by LCA spacers called "LCA" which while improving your roll center pretty much destory bump steer but then again if you have "coilovers" you probly have excesive spring rates and a lack of dampning so you dont have nay bump travel and its the least of your problems.,
WOW!!! A lower control arm spacer. The one that goes between the bottom of the strut and the steering arm via the ball joint which is connected to the lower control arm?? The part that is used to return the lower control arm back to it's (or as close as possible) original position. That being horizontal??
yeah exactly. while leaving the steering where? hanging up in the middle of fucking nowhere!
Just remember guys there is a big difference between an RCA where the steering arm and LCA are both spaced down and where just the LCA is spaced down. For most RWD Toyotas RCA do a good job of returning close to a factory roll centre when your are not prepared to completely redesign the front suspension.

My point is simply that thousands of cars here, Japan and USA have used RCA's for a long time. And they have been used with good results. Thats it. In the applications I have used them, I wouldn't go past them!!
My point isnt that they give you bump steer.
