Hmm, okay, might have to get that outlet modified in that case...still doable though
You can just see the s/c outlet in this pic.
It's probably even less room.

Personally if it was me i would be going the 2JZGE path , You wont regret it

2jzge, for sure, some nice light NA mods will make it a very nice car, and can always do a NA-T with a low boost turbo setup for ultra responsiveness.
Something around the 160-180rwkw range, Beautiful match for the weight of the car, enough that you can still cut sick when you wanna, but not so much that every time you bury the throttle you can't get traction.
If in doubt power out
orestes is my brother.
as such fabrication work is somewhat less of an issue for him.so is aftermarket managment at an affordable price.
as the car he has is already 1GGE, he has also available to him the standard NA type intake manifold. can anyone tell me if that will fit/clear the SC? if so wouldnt it more than likely make the IC plumbing a little easier?
Ultimately its your guys choice, but unless you have a charger to pump >12psi into GZE I'd be taken the 2JZGE.

ultimately it is orestes choice..
but yeah, i dont think there'd be a problem getting the s14 up around .9 bar. the blokes running them on 3.8L commo engines with CRS kits get about that dont they?
i know one thing i bet it would sound interesting.
The reason they work 'so well' on the 3.8 commo motor is because of the shittiness of the commo motor.
Remember, boost is a function of air NOT getting into the motor.
If you have really restrictive intake manifold, heads, and cams, you will see a LOT of positive manifold pressure, purely because not much of that will be getting into the motor.
The 1G however has a better flow capacity, and thus you will see less boost produced.

for sure the 1g flows better pound for pound. but still its only 2L?
Ha ha, that pic of the 1GGZE brings back memories; I took that about 10 years ago in a mates driveway. He bought the engine to use the blower on a MGB and thought I might be interested in measuring the block to see if it fitted into a Celica. 6 months later (1996) I had a 1GGE in our RA23. I digress though.
I have a 1GGZE in both an RA23 and a Crown wagon. They are fantastic engines in a light bodies car and my favorite of all the 1G's. I must admit though I asumed the GZ10 would of been 1400+kg so hence my 'not exciting' comment. In 1200kg it would still give quite a bit of zip to the Soarer. If you could find a late model type then I'd probably go that way simply for the ease of fitment and wiring.
Cruzida's comments about boost mods and intake temps are valid but not too hard to overcome. In a Soarer you could probably easily run a front mount and that alone would be a big plus. Pulleys cannot be bought off the shelf but a smart machinist could make one.
I think 1GGZE would be an ok upgrade for the GZ10. This would give a huge increase in up idle torque, and be heaps of fun in a GZ10.
The engine that is now in my soarer was originally in a ST141 Corona. It was in supercharged form and went well when it was running standard boost and management, no cooler. The descision was made to make a altermate pulley, and remove the clutch on the supercharger. A cooler was also fitted.
The pulley that was made for this ended up giving the engine 16psi of boost by 1500rpm, and by 6000rpm still had 13psi. This was still running with the standard engine management etc.
This ran in this state for about 3 months until the auto decided it had enough of the extra torque and power made.
Here is a picture of the pulley that i was running on mine.
I hope this helps you make a descision
Cheers
