I'm pretty sure 1G-GZE production finished in about 1992, and that they were all AFM up to that point.
Cheers.
Hey guys, just thinking now about going 1G to 1G instead of to a 2JZGE. Should end up a bit cheaper, plus the supercharger would be a bit diffrent. Just wanna know though, is it possible to get a map sensor GZE, or are they all AFM like i'm thinking? and thus would I be better off runing afermerket engine managment

Go 2JZGE
Bit more expensive, but better, and no harder.

thats what i'd assume anyway. "ndgcpr" done it to his GZ10 no sweat
hello
With Bonneyville JZ mounts the 2JZGE will be 'bolt in' too.

Bolt in, wire up, and away you go with the ultimate "2JZ noshit! (copyright the fast and the furious or something) powah!"Originally Posted by CrUZida
go 2JZ, its so much better than the 1G on so many levels, and being newer, you'll run into alot less problems, and cheaper parts and all that crap.

Please elaborate a little more... Who/what is Bonneyville?Originally Posted by CrUZida
I really like the 1GGZE but in a GZ10 i just don't think it would be exciting. Spend the extra time and money and go the 2J!

I do tend to think that a GZ10 is still light enough for a 1G especially after having driven mine for a while properly

The 2JZGE will be more expensive, but has more power "out of the box". I'm still interested to see what a 1GGZE is capable of, no one really has gone to town on one here, but as they've said, the stock 2JZ will be quicker.
As for not being 1GGZE not being exciting, I wouldn't go as far as to say that, the GZ10 doesn't weigh much at all. Ultimately, it's your call though.

The problem with the 1GGZE is you just can't 'wind up the boost'
Not only do you need to either get a bigger crank pulley, or a smaller charger pulley, but you already have intake temps extremely high, and so some funky plumbing and a cooler is a necessity. And no one really knows how far the factory ecu can go on a GZE, will it handle 17psi like the GTE ecu?
And even at 10-12psi, I'd still probably take the 2JZGE.

Pulley shouldn't be too hard to come by. They already have a cooler don't they? Ultimately, it's still a forced induction engine, so the little things you can do should still help. You could even go extractors
As for the factory ECU, who knows unless someone tries it? Ultimately, I can't see it being too dissimilar to the GTE ECU, and it still uses an AFM, so you could probably tweak it a little as per mine.

No cooler, straight from SC outlet to intake plenum. And the pipe that joins them is about 8" long, so its not easy to plumb a cooler in.
Yes, it would be interesting to see how well a worked one goes.
Steve has his on Wolf, but the intake temps are up aroung 80degC at the top end, so the timing has to be waaaay backed off to prevent teh ping.

How different is it from a 4AGZE setup in terms of being able to accept an IC? 8" long makes it difficult, but nothing a couple of right angle silicon bends couldn't fix. I didn't know it wasn't IC'ed, would partially explain why it's so down on power compared to the GTE.
