jim berry hes your man he can do it cuase noone can!
no seriously call jim berry in QLD best man ever to build you a clutch to suit you.
ive got a 1JZ cressida, and an R154 ready for a conversion, when its back i think power will be hovering around 250wkw on stock turbos
i need a clutch for the job, so far as i can tell via searching;
ORC and OS Giken make some nice clutches, but require push/pull converters which isnt so bad cos they come with em? used for about 300wkw and up
stock clutches not so bad, no need for push/pull converters obviously - i dunno what power these are good for though
will i be right with a stock clutch? its supposed to be a daily () and im not really keen on hitting any tracks (its already got a bit of an identity crisis and its not running yet heh) or will i need to get into a nice single plate ORC clutch or something?
on the topic too i spose, does anyone make slightly better-than-factory-spec clutches that retain the original pull clutch engagement?

stock clutch will hold 250kw if its in good nick but id suggest getting an upgraded pressure plate if you want to keep with organic discs for daily driver usage.

Holds really well with my 225RWKW ( ~550nm ) and is only a touch heavier in pedal effort compared to stock. Has a lot more positive feel and feedback to it to when driving at Winton or through the hills.
awesome, sounds alright
just prefer to keep things as civil and easy as i can for this one
thanks chaps![]()

I recently fried the stock r154 clutch, lasted about 12months after conversion (this is on stock boost pulling 200odd).
have now gone exedy HD for $600 and it feels so much tighter. hopefully this will last longer.
ah man
still using standard pull clutch for the exedy?

I think if you managed to fry the clutch in such a short time you need to recheck your Driving Habits ..
yeah still pull clutch to suit.Originally Posted by Gary

Jim Berry Clutch is the way to go.
I've just installed mine in my TT 300rwkw setup and my power goal will be 400-450rwkw with a T51 very soon. The JB clutches are a carbotic button with an upgraded pressure plate. For a button clutch, they are very streetable and you can slip them at low rpm for hill take offs and general every day driving.
They are around $900-1000 change over and turn around is about 2 weeks. I have installed 4 of these clutches so far in my own cars and in my friends and they are just great!
To reline the clutch and replace the buttons when they wear out during its service life - it will cost about 250 - cheap!
ALWAYS do the following when you do a clutch job on a car:
Replace Rear Main seal - $50
Replace Gearbox Front Seal - $20
Replace Thrust Bearing - $25 (or JB includes this in the price if you change over the setup)
Replace flywheel bolts - $70 (ARP make 4AGE flywheel bolts that fit the 1JZ perfectly and are cheaper than toyota OEM and 100% reusable!)
Use Thread sealer on Gearbox Front Bearing Retainer and Flywheel bolts.

i know, mines 7mgte/r154 but the clutches are interchangeable. handles daily duties nicely, not noticeably heavier than stock. will handle a fair whack of abuse, but can still slip enough to take off smoothly in the wet...

sorry chaps, i was under the impression it was hard to find clutches that were pull type, and you had to go push to get a good one. obviously incorrect
dropped into parts store today for a chat, TYK6571HD, for $825 - clutch kit though including throwout, alignment tool etc
squish did you pay 600 for the plate and clutch disc or was it a full kit?
twiztd what was yours worth?
