ta23 1ggte conversion

hey guys just a couple of questions regarding the TA23 1GGTE conversion.

1. do i need the RA23 cross member?
2. does my tail shaft, being from the TA23 still bolt up to the 1GGTE gearbox?

i have done a search and keep getting ,mixed messages to these questions.
any information will be great.

....I believe the normal Soarer TT engine mounts bolt up to an TA23 x-member...if you use a RA23 x you will need the n/a mounts with 18rc rubbers....in theory at least.

Tailshaft is another storey, was your gearbox a W40, w50, t50 or automatic variant...if it was a w50 i cant see any problems...but im not sure about the others.

You can change the engine x member if you want,that is most simple way to mount your 1G.

Your tail shaft is now useless you need to get one made as you have no mounts to fit the two pc RA40/28/23 one.you will also need a spline/yoke from a w series box. the T series you have is much smaller.

I had lot of problems finding info to. members rides has all the answers but may take some time to find.

The common conversion is:

- RA23/8 xmember (often with lowered/repositioned mounts, but not necesarily)
- 1GGE steel mounts (slightly modded to bolt to the front holes on the block)
- 18R rubber isolators (go between the 1G mounts and the xmemeber)
- RA23/28 gearbox xmember (modded to allow mounting 1" further back)
- RA23/8 tailshaft (if you are using the standard diff. otherwise custom)
- modded GA70 rear sump to clear steering links

As far as I know, the TA23 chassis is the same as the RA23, so once you rip out the 2T and the TA xmember, your install should be the same as an RA23.

I haven't heard anything about using the soarer mounts on the TA xmember... but with mods, anything is possible.

thanks guys your help is much appreciative. My only concerne is, if i wanted to keep the TA23 xmember so i can have power steering.ill see what i can do and ill keep everyone posted on any progress


also it will be good to have a walkthrough on a TA23 conversion for future reference
