Default Setting correct tension with a 5M-E chain tensioner in a 2T-G

    Hi guys
So on the weekend i broke my top chain tensioner in my 2tg. Luckily i was able to locate a 5me tensioner quickly and have got the car going again. My question is how do i correctly tension the chain with the new tensioner?

    Thanks in advance.

use the same principle as adjusting the 2TG tensioner?
with the engine turned off, should be about 0.5mm movement on the plunger with around 5kg force applied - thats what it is for the 18RG top chain tensioner anyway.

Unfortunately the 5me one doesn't have a plunger to puse in. Just a bolt and locknut. I'm experimenting with it at the moment. When I figure it all out I might write up a guide or something.

perhaps go to your local library and read a workshop manual for a MS123 crown, or a MA61 celica/supra..... it will have the method to adjust it
