    Default 1g-fe overheating problem

my gx81 chaser is overheating(confirmed with temp probe)..temp very quickly climbs to half and remains there..I thought radiator might be block,so disassembled and cleaned the invidual tubes(it wasnt blocked).thermostat is already removed..clutch fan also works fine.the stock radiator is single core.do i need to swap a double core?which car's double core radiator wud be a direct swap??also the small electric fan(CDS fan) doesnt kick in even with A/C on.is it temperature controlled??

nomi01: Quick questions does the car over heat at all or you are worried that the temperature stays half way or gets to it quickly? What was the reading on your Temperature Probe?

I thought toyota gauges were normal halfway.

Also the fans are temperature switched.

@ Neali::in winter, temp stays just above 1/4 but in summer its around half.Reading was ~92 C.it very quickly climbs to half but has never gone above it.Thermostat already removed.Since the car is JDM,i think single core rediator was suited for japan's cold climate..but is inadequate for hot weather.(summer temp ~40 C here).double core shud solve it.wat u say?

Put your thermostat back in it, People have this idea that pulling it out makes the motor run cooler which in actual fact it doesn't, your water system needs to be pressurised, needs to have something that forces the water back into the galleries, and must have time to get cool, I had the same problem with my 1GGTE, put a thermostat in it and it stays alot cooler.

Also, 92 degress celcius seems normal to me, i'd start getting worried 106+

Trent-Ke30 is right on the money. you need to put your Thermo stat back in so the water stays in the radiator for a little longer thus lowering its temperature.

Also i think you have a miss understanding, if your car over heats that temperature gauge will try and go off its dial as in get to red line and keep going, your overflow bottle will start pouring out steam and your electric fans will be working at 100%.

Anything close or past 3/4 on your Temp gauge then you should be concerned.

There is no need to go out and buy a 2 core radiator(but it would be good to have).

Also try and see if you can bleed the air out of your cooloing system.
