Default Is IDB Automotive any good for Twin Cam tuning

    Hi All,

As I know Sean Moloney left IDB Automotive a few years ago has anyone been there in the last 6 months or so to have any work done. The reason I ask is that I have put the head back on my other 18RG in my Celica and now the tuning is up the shit in a big way. I am uncertain if it is cam timing / ignition timing or carbs. I don't want to take it to my regular mechanic as there may be a tendency to play with it for hours and still not fix it, thereby handing me a big bill for no success. If anyone can give the thumbs up to IDB as I know they play with twin cams I will happily go there.

If anyone could even suggest a good tuner / mechanic in any direction in a radius of 10 k's from Box Hill that would work too!.

My car has been off the road since Oct last year after Winton and I am desperate to get it finished and on the road again. If anyone can help I would be most grateful .

I took my car to Maztech in Thornbury.
Anthony Rodrigez is a race car tuner and sometimes gets flown to the states to tune drag cars. He did my 18rg and did an absolute sweet job, and a $hit load cheaper than Maloney ever did for me.
Give them a go, and they have a 2 and 4WD Dyno Dynamics dyno on site.

    Good luck

There is a place in Cheltenham called "Powerplay" - They are not the cheapest - But they are very good. They do alot of weber tuning on escorts and dattos. They have a dyno too.

Can't you go through the basics? Check cam timing, comp test, etc...

I've been going to IDB for years - Ask for Ian - he knows his stuff with twin cam toyotas, he's very popular with the MR2 boys. He's helped me with many engine swaps and mods. Although I'm not sure if they do tuning - but its worth calling...
