i know that its very very hard to weld hi-tensile bolts to mild steel.
i was wondering what metals can be successfully welded together
i.e., stainless to alloy, mild steel to...uh...titanium
what can be welded

i am more-so thinking about welding exhaust piping to alloy, or any type of 4-5 inch tubing

carbon steel to stainless ect is ok but cannot be welded to alloy steels...
make sense
cheers

You can't weld different metals together. Aluminium alloys to ferrous alloys = no go.

2 words for you guys
browns gas
google and you might be suprised what you can weld together
nah, brown gas, pfft.

Hot Glue
You would be suprised what you can join together.
Too much preperation on the hot glue. If it can't be held together by any combination of cable ties and gafa tape then the gods have spoken! The 2 items shall forever remain apart!!

- this browns gas?
thats a scam by the way...Professor Yul Brown has developed a machine that will convert plain tap water to a stoichiometric mixture of hydrogen and oxygen without causing an explosion, hitherto fore thought to be impossible to do. He has discovered another state of water besides ice, water or steam. It is Brown's Gas! One liter of water makes 1860 liters of Brown's gas, when a spark is added to the gas, it still does not explode, it implodes. Brown's Gas implodes! When it implodes it makes the most unique welder in the world. People who can weld, confirm that it is impossible to weld dissimilar metals, glass to metal, metal to brick, and just about anything to anything, but you can with Brown's Gas Welder.
The same pumpkin colored flame can weld aluminum at 900 degrees F, can braise copper at 1800 F, or put a hole through fire brick at 3600 F. This same pumpkin colored flame can sublimate tungsten at over 13,000 degrees F. and become the same temperature of the sun at 8,000 degrees Celsius! This machine will revolutionize the field of welding.
you can braze ferrus and non-ferrus materials together, but thats not fusion welding.. bottom line, you can't easily weld one metal type to another metal type... (eg steel to aluminium) it hard enough to weld metals of the same type but different compositions (eg sand cast aluminium to pure aluminium etc)
