Default 3ZRFE into RN85 Twin Cab issues

I am doing a conversion it is my first toyota conversion. I am fitting a 3zrfe into an RN85 twin cab. I purchased the engine off Gold coast 4wd wreckers. The sump fowls on the cross member. The guys at the wreckers have been very helpful and assure me that the engine is out of a hilux. I have looked at a 2007 model today and the sump is definatley different to the one i have Can antone help

In addition to Chuckster's question, you can usually read the engine build date on the spark plug leads, or any other wire in the loom (at least on 80s-90s engines, unsure about more recent ones).

The engine has to have a built date from 97-05 after that the VVti 2.7 has a new name (not sure). the sump may differ from 2wd to 4wd.

    You did mean a 3RZ-fe not a 3ZR-fe.

thank you every body for your kind suggestions. still not sure about the build date. It appears not to be the sump but is more than likely the engine mounts. Will be fitting the 0old 22r engine mounts tomorrow and will see. Case you are right it is a 3rzfe cant read my own writing. Hasd a look at a later model today and the engine starts with 2t with the VVTi engine, which I was told was a huge pain to fit to the early lux so stuck with the 3rz

    Is an RN85 a 2wd or a 4wd?

The chassis is the same from 89-05 on a SR5 4wd,but live axle 4wd's and 2wd's share a similar chassis.

hey mate, what type of sump is on it? like position front middle or rear? i believe the 4wd and 2wd sumps are different. perhaps you ended up with a 4wd engine?

I am getting a mate at a muffler shop to reposition the front engine mounts he is also going to do the cross over for the exhaust. Thank you all very much for your help. I will keep in touch as I am sure there will be more teething problems. There is also lots of things I would like to do to the car.
