Default Gen 2 3SGTE ECU to Gen 3 ECU....or EMS Stinger ECU

Was just wondering if anyone has tried this at all as I've found a website that shows you how to re-wire Gen 2 3SGTE ECU...(I Have a ST185) to a Gen 3 ECU so you can get rid of the AFM and use a map sensor and bigger injectors......also shows how to do it with a Power FC as well.

My other option that I was thinking was to get a EMS stinger ECU which would obviously cost more but it seems to be a pretty good ECU for the price.

My workmate did this to his car a while back, but we pulled out a "chipped" gen 2 brain so it's not a fair comparison.

Before the brain transplant it always had a bit of "not quite right" about the tune.

Over a weekend he changed it all to gen3 MR2 brain, injectors, map sensor, i think ignitor, and an air temp sensor. Didn't run well till we got the correct gen3 only map sensor.

But since the change to gen3 setup it's now feels like a factory fresh tune, no hicups, no hunting, no lumpiness.

The only real gain you get is the ability to run bigger injectors and somewhat higher boost before it cuts, I may be wrong about the cut limit. Oh, and when you blow a intercooler hose you can continue driving to a light pole before attempting to put it back on
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new

Get an Adaptronic mate, I'm putting one on my Gen4 and it looks great.

Personally I wouldn't put an EMS Stinger on a lawnmower.

The EMS Stinger is an extremely capable ECU and it is what I'm using on my '28.

It is also what Linden (Roadrunner Fabrications) used on his Gen III 3S-GTE AE71, and he also highly recommends them. (He even use to be a Wolf supplier I believe and still thinks the EMS shits all over the Wolf)

It all comes down to your tuner I guess... my sole experience with EMS was shocking.
