    Default 1G-GTE into 200SX S13 - anyone tried it?

I am selling my 1G from a mkiii Supra and have a guy interested in it who wants to put it in his S13. Have any of you guys tried this? Does it fit? I would be selling the gearbox, ECU, rad etc so I assume all he'll need is a propshaft to fit to the W58. Don't suppose there is one that does this is there?

Any info would be muchly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Mark

it'd fit with some work, but it's a pointless conversion. noone in their right mind pulls out a 2l turbo 4cyl all alloy engine and replaces it with a 2l turbo 6cyl cast iron and alloy engine. there's nothing to gain, and a lot to lose.

an RB series engine is a virtual drop in to a silvia, you require a skyline engine cross member, gearbox, radiator and tailshaft. you also then need thermofans,to jack up the bonnet to clear the intake if it's not altered, and besides the obvious detriment to the handling, you'll likely have overheating issues. a 1G will have all of the same problems, with the added hassle of nothing being bolt in,so you'll have to fabricate everything.

You have a buyer interested in it? In which case the answer is "Yes, it'll drop straight in, add half a tank of juice and you'll be pulling 10s next week."

In seriousness, I agree with fergo.
I need a working 4AGE bottom end. Pref smallport GZE, but all others considered. Also complete motors.

    the question is why...

Thanks for the replies guys. Good points Fergo, unfortunately bad for me tho. I know of a couple of 1JZ into S13's but 1J's are much rarer/more expensive here.

Might advertise it on here see if anyone wants it shipped over.

If you can't get 1Js, and SR20DETs are expensive...then maybe a 1G conversion isn't such a bad idea...how much were you looking at getting for the motor over there? And what's a 1J worth over there?

I spoke to the guy, he's going to spend the money on fixing his SR20.

SR20's & 1J's aren't that rare but 1JZ are so sought after for the drifting scene that it keeps the prices up. Wouldn't like to say how much exactly tho.

I was looking for about £400 for my 1G with 60k miles on it. I've also got adj cam gears and an F Con which i'd include for £600. What do you guys think, is that reasonable?

1G does make sense if handling is a concern - it's shorter and lighter than a 1JZ.

Um RB20 Silvertop is a bolt in conversion. Surely wouldn't be too hard to source one and would make much more sense then trying to do a 1ggte conversion.

They aren't as bolt in as some will have you believe. Not hugely difficult, but not exactly straightforward either.

RB20 are a dime a dozen though, plus they sound a fark load better too.

SR20's are no doubt a better motor, but if you are building a S13 drift pig on a budget plenty of CA's have been converted to RB20. Don't know why you wouldn't just get a R32,atleast they don't run the loom up through the guards which gets chewed out at full lock.

I wouldn't call it fresh, it's 19 years old! But it is in good condition, all cylinders pressure tested above 180psi, new cam belt, plugs, HT's & lamda recently. And yes it would be as it comes out of the car, injectors and all.
