    Exclamation celica gt4 overheating

hey i have a GT4 celica st185 thats just had a rebuild done . now when he put the rad back on it has started overheating . he says that the fans not coming on.... now on the ozcelica forums some one told me that its a closed circut and if the sensor fails that the fans will stay on all the time rather then not turn on at all...

    any ideas any one ??

i dont know about the 185's but the 184's had a plug on the back of the radaitor, bottom lefthand side, and it when unplugged would run the fans 24/7

yeah fans should 'break' on.. unplug that sensor, if they don't turn on you have another problem.. if they do.. drive it like that for a while and see what happens

Does it get hot when the car is moving or just in stopped traffic? If its not cooling even when the car is moving its not just the thermo fan that is the issue..

aite well i have the car back its runnin say 70% of wat i think should be good.. boosts fine, not over heating but it seems like some thing just aint rite.. when i put the foot down say 5% and let it off a lil it the car will shudder alil.. and fromm on acc and off acc it has problems too..

also 2 times while on brake and clutch pedal in the car turned off after hitting 1000 revs it kicked down more and then was off.. but it turns on straight away again with the key no problem and doesnt seem to have any issues...

How did he set the timing did he bridge out tereminal e1 and te1 in the diagonstic plug before setting the timing my be it could be helping it over heat and causing idle problems.

ah well its not over heating any more... but its misfiring sometimes.

just before boost comes on full it slputters some times and half of those times i can smell fuel... but then some times it freaking kicks and goes...
also it seems to be having problems even revving past 4000... its doesnt go at alll.. and im not talkin about holding boost or acceleration past 4000.. im talkin about at 4000 it just stays there and splutters and forces me to change gear..

    no gtfours use a maf.

sounds like ignition or afm, check plugs, leads and all the electrical connectors.
