Default What diff is this? ST141 BW?

I've had this rear axle sitting around my garage for a while now, I had got it from a wrecker who told me it was from an ST141 Avante...I wanted to know what diff series are in these, because I'm eventually looking to put LSD in it (if possible!)

One of the pics shows a P/N plate of some sort - I think it says "P/N T807-42-105 RATIO 3.89"....the only thing on this i understand is the ratio.

And after days of searching more diff related info online, i just had to pull the diff cover off and look inside. On the crown wheel - its marked "CF 05/0 -010 3,89 DS" - which again looks like its only helpful with the gear ratio. I also pulled one of the axles out and counted the splines - it looks like it has 23 splines....I was hoping for a 25 or 28 spline Borg Warner diff!

So if anyone has any info on helping me understand what i've got sitting in my garage - or has any possible solutions to fitting LSD to these axles it'd be much appreciated!

P.S I know all the diff people out there will just say fit a commo or falcon diff - but i don't want to fit such overkill. The axles on the corona Avante diff, and rear discs, 4 stud wheels, and wheel offsets all work for my application - plus its only about 6cm longer (wheel to wheel) than my original KE diff, which means I only have to flare the guards ever so slightly

No LSD's available for that generation Borg Warner diff, I have searched and searched as well. You can get LSD's easily for the 78 series Borg warner. Easiest would be the pintara/skyline version which is 4 stud already, I think 25 spline. Still pretty piss weak though. Then you step up to 28 spline commodore/falcon job, but you said that would be overkill. Best thing about the borg warners is the ease of the disk brake fitment. However, so are toyota F-series whih have the same flange and same brakes. Too many options, just gotta decide what is best for you and go for it.

Aaahhh.... thanks Pube - I had a feeling that'd be the case. Guess I'll have to keep researching a good option!!

The R31 Skyline axles are 28 spline 3.89 ratio. Pintaras are 25 spline 4.11. And Skyline diffs (and all other 28 spline Borgies) are tough as! Good luck finding a Skyline or Pintara rear end that is still in tact. All the pinion and crown wheels are generally taken by the VL turbo brigade

Are the axles and/or the diff housing on the skyline much heavier than the corona's? I take it they'd be smaller than the holden/ford option...

I couldn't say if they're shorter than holden/ford axles but I'd put money that they are. A friend of mine put a skyline diff into his ae71 without shortening the diff (had a bit of a flare job though) and I'd assume that a corona would be a little wider than the corolla. He had a diff mob cut the skyline brackets off and weld the corolla ones on.

There wouldnt be a great deal of weight difference between them all (when talking about 28 spline axles and centres). 25 splines would be lighter but you don't really want that anyway
