FX Gt conversion

What would be acompatable engine for the FX GT corolla ie- later model &more fuel efficient?.

You will probably need to supply some more information mate.
What engine do you gave? GZE? or 20v?
Whats wrong with it? And if farked, why not replace with another of the same?
Also, what model? AE111?
Maybe this information will stir more of a response

The car is a 1991 FX GT with a GZE 1600 engine.
The reason for wanting up grade is the engine's too thirsty & blowing smoke so up grade or sell?.

1zz-fe for sure.
Will be less power and torque than the GZE, but far more economical, and still pretty toey in the lighter AE92 chassis.

Personally, i'd jsut rebuild the supercharged 4A-GZE. They are a GUN engine imo.
