Question Good intank fuel pump for RA28 custom tank

1GGZE conversion. I know most people dont go the custom tank option but since the car is open cabin I wasnt able to keep it in the boot area (plus fuel smell obviously an issue), restricting me to having the system under the car, custom enclosure or intank, I figured it would neaten things up a great deal.

So I need suggestions of a good intank fuel pump and where to get it (WA). Also want it to be decent enough to facilitate possible future swap to 1UZ.

Also, is there anything else I need to remember when getting the tank made up? Obviously the tank will be baffled and will have the fuel feed and return (only need those two right?). I'm taking the old tank in so it's made to correct dimensions etc. Sorry about the ignorance but I'm pretty new to this sort of thing.

im not an expert here, but if you are getting a custom tank made, then i would get something like a commodore SS fuel pump and the whole enclosure with the fuel level sender, etc...

that should be plenty for the power you want to make and when making the tank, they just get the enclosure and cut it out to match

    cheers

I would be looking at running a bosch 040 pump, you'll also need a breather line fitted to your tank.
To help stop the fuel smell, get lines that aren't rubber as it permiates throught it.

    the 040 is definitely intank.

i was plannin on getting them to rig the original fuel level sender to the new tank. That would work fine yeah?

Getting braided lines that solves the problem doesn't it?

Looking at the original tank it appears (i could be wrong) to already have a breather line so the new tank will be made up with one also.

I am interested to see what you do with this. I also want to get a new fuel tank for my RA28 with baffeling and an intank pump.

Are you going to lay new fuel lines along the length of the car as well? Aren't the stock RA28 lines pretty small?

    ill keep you updated mate.

going with speedflow (http://www.speedflow.com.au/) outlets on the tank that way while im sticking with the 1G the standard lines will handle that fine and it also gives me the option to easily upgrade to a 3/8" later on

also chose the bosch 040 intank pump.

braided lines are more expensive than I thought!

Stick with the 5/16'' lines unless you are after some sort of stupid power, i'm running 321 rwkw in my 1j RA28 on standard 5/16'' fuel lines & intank pump but i cant remember what pump it is though ... The prevoius owner cut the top off the standard tank around the pick up area of the tank & grafted the top off another late model petrol tank onto the top of the original tank complete with a hold down screw mouting ring etc & pick up tube & tank mounted pump like a commodore or such complete with swirl pot attached to the bottom of the tank, seems to work fine ..

Rubber braided lines still permiate, i'm running the teflon coated braided lines that prevent that, and yes i was stupid enough to pay for them.

I know why ur doing it Mate... fuel smells suck in the 28's.

It's not a custom tank, but you can see what I did here:

Custom tank would be pretty similar job, and I can recommend the 8mm-ish alloy lines and proflow fittings from VPW.
