Hi all -
Has anyone dealt with these guys in Japan or does anyone know of a business in Oz that deals with them?
Thanks Rod G
I have only dealt with Kameari in the States. I have a set of adjustable gears for my 3tgte. very pricey but good stuff
TE-72 (T-18) w/3tgteu fully built
Haltech e6x direct fire/sequential
ae-86 (levin) footwork
TE-71 w/1uzfe
Autronics SM4
Good quality parts, but a bit expensive since the $AU is down on the yen.
I have:
4 x adjustable sliding cam sprockets
2 x timing chain idle sprocket
2 x gear train
1 x oil filter sandwich plate
2 x 0.8mm 90mm bore 3 layer metal head gasket
Only problem is that you will need a translation for the instructions the parts come with.
Kameari in the States will not help you with the translation, they will tell you to contact Kameari Japan directly.

Thanks for the info.
Are the parts you have listed for sale?
If so can you give me some ball-park figures?
Thanks
the parts I listed are what I've got in both my 2T-G's
your looking at around $2k worth of parts

Ooohhh, i likey!
Any idea if these run the same diameter crank etc as the 18rg? Would be very interesting to see these on one. Much work involved in fitting that centre gear?

HKS made a Gear train for the 18R-G's, there was one for sale on 1stgencelicas.com.
The 18R-G crank is totally different compared to the 70mm 2T and 78mm 3T units. If they where interchangeable I'm sure kameari would mention that.
You will need a translation for the installation sheet, I had troubles setting up the back lash for the gears cause of this. Think of heat expansion, too small and they mesh up and seize, too big and it upsets the timing. I had some help and now it's running sweet, there is a distinct whine from the gears once the engine has warmed up but you can get rid of it by adding some lapping paste. Apart from that, drilling and tapping the block for the center hex bolt was easy.
I wonder if Kameari will develop a replacement for the upper timing chain tensioner guide as you can't buy them anymore from Toyota. If not, I've been collecting a few and might start production of my own design.

Hi,
i think gerrard organised recoating of the 18rg timing chain slippers about 2 years ago. I think the first lot farked up but from memory the second lot was quite good. I'll have to dig that thread up and see if there was any progress.
One thing is you can always tell when someone is running gears and not chains. Any reason in particular that you went for the gears instead of chains?

I've had the coating come totally off on the lower timing chain guide and it lead to metal (on chain) on metal (chain guide) friction.
I prefer not to re-coat the upper tensioner guide, I will be replacing mine with something that will cause less friction on the chain. With the upper timing chain guide-less apart from the one between the cams, I reckon it will be more efficient.

Hi,
very interesting. It's a bit frustrating that the kit was done for the bottom when you can still buy all those things new! It's just a shame that they didn't develop more for the top though it is good that they did the chain roller gear instead of the slipper pad on the right hand side (from the front).
As for the tope chain i would highly recommend running it. It won't do anything while the engine is accelerating and thus not creating any friction but they must have put it in there for some reason. I'd hate to see any of the gear you've put in the engine become less useful than a paperweight because you didn't put it in.

I have only just found out about these guys and was very curious on what benefits customers found using their products.
It appears that Kameari are focused on light weight but very strong items and jsut by looking at the retainers at half the weight of the standard items, these parts all combined must turn your engine into a rev happy machine.
Very interested in your results (before and after).
