    Talking Winton Fun Day

there was a great turnout from our toymods forum members at winton yesterday, about 5 celicas an supercharged mazda capella
i didnt get a chance to take any piccys ,so i hope some one did
there were more people entered there than some of the sprint meetings that i attend ,
it was agreat day ,lots of interesting cars from ford GT 40s through to a shitter thrown together by some of the locals ,one thing that i did notice in the passenger session ,is the way extra weight effects the handling of your car ,i had joey with me, and the difference to my car was very noticable
not that i am saying joey weighs a lot ,( although i wouldnt like to have to pay his food bill

just having the extra weight made my car understeer in corners that it normally wouldnt
and on the front straight i used to be able to be in 5th it just didnt have the grunt with a passenger
oscar enjoyed himself his car went well
and he learnt a valuable lesson about tightening your wheelnuts before each session
eddies new aquisition blew a head gasket maxs car went well
i wish there were more of these events as had more fun than i do at the sprints

It was a great day. I had a fun time just watching.

As usual it was really relaxing because the group is so chill and everyone gets along. A couple of my mates came this time (Matt and Saud), neither had met anyone other than Ed and myself, but they both instantly fitted into the group no problems.

Saud brought his daily hack (Honduh Integra) and had a great time throwing it round the track. Matt went for a run as a passenger in Ed's car and has vowed to get his XF Falcon back on the road so he can bring it to the next Fun Day.

Alison was another Fun Day noob and was lucky enough to have a drive of Oscar's car (very generous offer by Oscar). She was quite nervous about going out on the track but had a great time. I would be very surprised if her RA28 didn't make an appearance at the next Fun Day.

I agree with you ian about the passenger having a quite noticable affect. If i have a person in the mini with me, it feels like the car is running on 3 cylinders. It's probably because each person weighs about 10-15% of the car's total weight. It's a fair percentage increase.

As for the frequency of the Fun Days... I wish they had more of them, or didn't put them in the middle of the extreme cold and hot months. July is funkin' cold and December is too hot.

Hahaha ian.... im a growing boy, i need all that protein! lol. But yes i had an absolutely awesome time throwing my chaser around and was shocked at how well it out performed some of the other cars i'd thought i'd have no chance keeping up with. As simon said i wish they held these more often like once every 3 months or so, i'd be down there every time!

Haha i was semi-prepared from a drive in eddies car before but i must say it was truly an expeirience to see how awesome these cars can be made to corner at unbelievable speeds and not brake traction!! Every corner i thought we were going to run off the track of break traction and do a 360... but nope it just bloody well stuck to the track!!
