    Default 2TGEU reluctor

I'm hoping someone can clarify the wiring of the reluctor in my 2TGEU dizzy. The reluctor is a 4 tooth wheel and there are two wires coming out of the module, a black wire and a black/orange wire. Can anyone tell me which one to connect power too and which one is the trigger wire, or are they something else?

Trying to connect it to a Haltech E8

    Thanks

DO NOT connect power to the VR sensor in the dissy.
Those two wires go directly to the ignitor.... there should be a longish grey shielded lead coming from the ignitor, separate to the other 5 wires - the VR sensor connects to the two wires in that lead.

    Nope only 2 wires...

There are two wires going from the magnetic pickup to the ignigter module, then two wires exiting the dizzy. No other wires...

Can provide photos when I get home this evening if that helps.

Ps. this was a factory internal igniter setup

are you sure there's something under that plastic cover?

igniter will be a box near or attached to the coil

100% sure that's the igniter. There is no other external igniter. This is the factory set-up, the two wires from the dizzy ran directly to the coil +ve and -ve posts.

are you SURE there is an ignitor underneath that black plastic cover?

Pull the cover off and get us another pic.

P.S. that looks like the internals of a 4A-C electronic dissy, iirc.

Yep, 100% sure, I transplanted the engine myself and there was no other external igniter. Therefore either the black or the grey one is the igniter. And the Grey one has the pickup so the igniter must be the black one.

I'll take some photos tonight under the plastic cover.

The B/O wire used to be connected to +ve and the black ran to -ve on the coil (prior to me disconnecting the factory loom). I have been informed by my Haltech rep and toyota knowledgable person (having built 18RGTEs) that I need to run a power wire to the dizzy and the other wire runs to the trigger wire on the ECU. Should I just disconnect the Igniter and run the wires direct to the reluctor?

that is SO different to the 2T-GEU I had!
the trigger wheel was [in plan] a circle with 4 star points [as per wiring attachment]
it should have an external igniter too.

mate, i have a jap 2T-GEU manual if you want a look

Thanks Ray, I have a copy of the Jap manual, but obviously as everyone has become aware this appears to not be a usual 2TGEU and my kind of dizzy is not covered in the manual. This was an internally igniter dizzy that came out of the TE71 halfcut from Japan. So far there has been quite a few 'different' things about this engine (eg. factory internal reg on the alternator). I must have bought the black sheep.

So does that mean that electronic ignition still has an external igniter?

the normal alternator on the 2T-GEU was internally regulated.

the manual pic i posted also includes the TE71, so i think ur dizzy isn't from that engine.
although i have seen that type of dizzy on later model cars it is not one either the 2T or 18R-GEU's i've owned???
