    Default 3SGTE 02 Sensor

Recently I bought a Celica GT4 (ST185). Of course, being that it was over the internet and I hadn't really looked at it before buying it, I got screwed over a bit.

So after actually looking into the engine bay after the eventful trip home in it I've found the oxygen sensor has been cut.

Today I picked up a new one cheap from Repco but can't for the life of me find where it plugs into.

Can anyone help me please? I've been looking for info/pics everywhere but can't seem to find anything useful. Cheers.

It bolts into the dump pipe and should be easily seen from the top. The plug should be near the alternator.

Sounds like it's been messed with though so post a pic to give us something to help

Yeah, the engine bay's a bit confusing at the moment. Looks like things have been moved, etc. I've got the new one bolted in but the wire is just hanging loose. It's a bit dark for me to take pictures now but I'll try and do it tomorrow. Thanks for the help.

I took a pic today. Not the best but hopefully it'll give an idea. I wasn't 100% this was the oxygen sensor or another. None the less it's in there, as you can see. Though it isn't wired to anything.

Yup that's the senor. The plug should be on that fitting on the alternator. The plugs looks like it's hanging down near the dip stick handle?

Quite likely. Where would that plug go? And sorry to be a pain but do you know exactly which pin or whatever the sensor wire goes into? I really don't want to pay a mechanic to do it. :\

Sorry mate not without seeing it as there are a number of possibilities. Google a wiring diagram for your model

Looks like the wire might be connected to that hose near the alternator?

Mine is a 4 wire sensor and I found that the plug on the Bosch one was not the same as the standard (Toyota) one. Therefore even though my plug was connected, it was not working because the wires on the sensor didn't connect with the correct wires in the plug. Sorry if this sounds confusing.

Just that if you find your ecomony is really bad with the new sensor (like mine was) then it is probably not wired correctly.

    Good luck with it.

Yeah I've heard there are single wire ones and 4 wire ones. Mine was so no-name brand. All I can remember was it was 3 random letters. Mine's a single wire one. I might have to get the mechanic to look at it yet...

Don't know if it helps you, but here is the diagram of the alternator showing where the connector connects

And here is a pic of my (ST185) engine bay showing sensor connected:
