you might have the polarity of the VR aroudn the wrong way - the hardware in there is pretty much identical to other VAST and DLI dizzi's (1 or 2 x single tooth pickups, 1x 24 tooth pickup) all VRs with a common earth for all three. (e.g. 3SGE, 7MGTE, 1GGZE, etc)Originally Posted by stradlater
Megasquirt users have had trouble from the VR sensors being wired around the wrong way. Normally, your VR signal goes positive as the tooth approaches the sensor then drops to a negative after it's passed, the electronics and software detect the crossing point from + to - to position the tooth. If you get the earth and signal wires mixed, the signal shape is the wrong way around and at different engine speeds, you confuse the crap out of your ECU.

Sorry to bring this post back from the dead but my question is relevant.
Iam currently building (as in right now) a megasquirt2 for the 5mge out of an 86 cressida glxi but Im not sure if the dizzy is VR or Hall effect, Im assuming VR from the posts so far but would really like clarification.
Thanks, Tim![]()
