    Default ID this diff centre

    Hey guys,

Got this diff centre here, i was told that it is a brand new Genuine Toyota LSD for a Hilux. From the part number shown on the centre google is saying that it is a Tru Trac?

    Can anyone confirm this?

    Thanks

    Chris

Long story......but a mate of a mate of mine works at autopro and a customer of theirs came in with the centre.....not knowing what it was and asking if the guy at autopro could sell it. He told me that he looked up part numbers and thought it was a genuine toyota lsd. They guy only wanted $200 so i went down there thinking i was getting a toyota LSD for 200 which is still cheap but walked away with a tru trac!

Any LSD for 200 seems like a bargain... brand new? score!

Sorry for my ignorance but does "tru trac" refer to a Toyota made Torsen style LSD?

    Not made by Toyota,

    Made by 'Detroit'.

Quite popular with the Toyota scene tho I quite like mine

Yeah brand new! Couldnt believe it when i saw it....knowing that it might be a tru trac!

Apparently some guy bought a whole lot of parts in a container and this was in it?

Anyway mine now and should rip some mad skids in my 1uz hilux

Also how sould i store this to stop it from rusting at all.....coat it in some oil/grease as it wont be going into my diff for about a month.

    Hi,

mine has some sort of oil coating on it straight from the box. Keep it away from moisture regardless.

Thanks wilbo, I got confused by the first post as it said "genuine toyota LSD". I should have just looked at the link you posted!

Chris, a diff is made of cast and high carbon steel components so wont rust for a fair while; a month is not too lng. However, if it was me and I was worried about it I would coat it in a bit of diff oil because that's what it sits in normally and put it in a plastic bag, that way you dont have to clean it off before you install it.

Just keep an eye out for the original owner. Someone may be looking for their diff centre and I guess this would be a good place to look.

I dont think Autopro would have taken it if it was not legit, the got it off one of their good contacts and i got a full receipt for it.
