    Hi,

I saw this thread a few hours ago and have emailed it to the Board, along with my disappointment that we are not providing an effective service regarding memberships.

I have requested information on why we have these issues and what can be done to rectify them.

My apologies to those that are still waiting. I thought all were done, but it seems they are not.

Please leave it with me for a few days to find out what's going on and I'll get back to this thread.

2 months and you complain?? A number of us have waited over a year and still don't care too much... at least you know the club received your money, which is going to a good cause (these forums)!

And that is probably half the problem. If the club is trying to portray a professional image a two month wait let alone waiting over a year just doesn't really cut it. If the current people responsible can't cope with the work load, get some help from other members or cut the workload by capping membership.
And yes I have been on the other side of this with clubs I have been involved in so I do know what the work load is like. But if you make a committment to do a job then either do it or pass it to someone else. In the past I have pulled the pin and walked away when my circumstances changed and I could no longer spare the time to do the role properly.

    Wirysage,

The club is run by volenteers and our merchandise is procured on a mates rates price tag so we can afford to have it. The shirts are run and made in the luls of production by our new supplier. As such they can take a while.

The collective delays can add up and unfortunatly you have joined while we are witing for merchandise. Kirsty pm'd you and told you we were waiting for shirts. How many times do you need to be told the same thing ? I dont answer my 5 year old multiple times for the same question either.

The club PO box only gets checked once a month by old Man River - so its a good change your membership will sit in there for up to that time - Then we dont exchange paperwork till a board meeting or club meeting so that may be a couple of weeks too. Then once Kirsty actually receives your paperwork and has the required merchandise to mail it out she will do so.

So while I can see that you have been waiting since april 22nd for us to get the shirt order, so have others and they will be sent when the shirts arrive.

Wide Body - The previous retardedly long delays for memberships were largly as a result of some membership applications being filed by a non board member who was assiting. This paperwork was put in a safe place unbeknowns tothe board and was there for a very long time before it was found and delivered to Kirsty. The delay was compounded by the fact our shirt producer had a heart atack and could not produce shirts and as a loyaltyto him we waited a while to see if he could save his business once he was well enough. e unfortunalty could not. The cost of shirts aquired commercially was more than we sell them for much less what the membership Fee would cover so unless people want club membership to rise signifigantly then patience is sometimes required.

We know quicker is better but this isn't Target or a large organisation with paid staff. The board is 7 people with lives and families who do this shit in there spare time.

well, going from the fact that the board sat down and decided that the forums needed to be reconfigured to make it more about the 'club' ...perhaps the 'club' needs to get its shit together so the top three posts in the feedback section arent 'wheres my money and t-shirt gone'...

yeah i know easy to sit here and throw stones, but what does the club expect? raise its profile, pitch high, and then fail on the follow through?

Missing on delivery of merchandise is fair enough if there are delays if people are kept informed, but why the delays on getting forum access? Surely this could be done while waiting to send out the membership packs?

yes I'd like forum access also. I am satisfied enough now to wait another 2 months without a hassle for my package. My message has got across to the club admins. Thankyou for listening. ed_Jza80 was just thinking how long has it been since the club sat down and made that decision? If it's a recent development we must give them time to implement the new policies.

Maybe have a little disclaimer with a system inplace for the new member to follow in the case of slow membership.Because nothing slows you down more than having to read multiple PM's/emails etc from people over the same thing.

Maybe somthing like,Due to the club being run by volunteers please allow up to 8 weeks for merchandise to be sent and 1 week for full forum activation to be granted,if you find you have had neither activated please send ..................... an email with the title: Membership access (username) In the email outline your: Full name address, user name and date of application so we can check back where you application is or why it has been delayed.

A bit of a pre-emptive strike if you will?

    Just my thoughts,

    cheers

Nath, that sounds like a good idea. It will give the board time incase life gets in the way of their volunteer work, and hopefully it will placate the younger kiddies who have no patience and expect things done instantly.

of course as long as stuff DOES get sent out in the mentioned time period

wow imagine how this guy is going to feel after waiting 2 years+ for an acknowledgement of membership!

also what is stopping a non-board toymods member helping out with memberships and basic administration function?

i have seen heaps of people OFFER to help like this but never seen the offer taken up, and now the situation is getting much worse i havnt seen so many unhappy CUSTOMERS since i joined.

    Hi,

I definately think that something needs to be done in this regard as over the years it is something that i have seen commented on all too often. I've seen it so much so that i really can't be assed paying for membership as it seems whoever looks after it can't be assed processing it. I think that if the process of it all was alot smoother, more efficient and completed within a reasonable time period then there would be alot more paying members. One thing that just blows me away is that the po box is only checked once a month???

I know that there would be many people on here willing to help with most or all stages of the forum process and can't see why an ever expanding club doesn't seem to be expanding the people that also run it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and this is mine.

    Hi,

Each year we have an annual general meeting where we send out packs to all members and ask for interest to join the Board to help run the Club.

We get, at best, a handful of responses, and only a small number of people actually attend the AGM. No member puts up their hand to join the Board to help run the Club.

This year we have the smallest Board ever as some existing Board members, due to other commitments, could not take on their roles anymore, and no one (other than the few remaining Board members) put up their hands to join and help run the Club.

It's welcomed to hear people now say they can help, but when positions are up for offer at the AGM no one volunteers their time.

Agreed the checking of the PO needs to be done more often, and as that is my role (as I have the keys) I will check it every week, when possible.
