i was always told turning the wheels while stationary flogs out your power steering?
This may sound kind of stupid but is the belt tight???
You should be able to hear that though...

to my knowledge its all PS systems. you can do MOST of it with the wheels off the ground so there isnt as much strain, but you have to do at least 2 lock to locks with the wheels on the ground
it sounds like the vacuum which boost power to the engine isnt working correctly, there is a black sensor on the power steering pump with 2 hoses plugged into it, its senses that you require more revs when you turn the steering wheel.
if you find that you are losing a little power when u turn, then that is your problem.
if that isnt your problem, then i would turn to your rack and pinion, sounds like its due for an overhaul.

Same thing happened to me today while trying to do a motorkhana in the whale,, opps i mean my MX83 Cressida. Few of the racers agreed that it is bascially the system not being able to pump fluid fast enough. They suggested running bigger lines etc etc.
However, I'd like the idea of just drilling out a restrictor much better. Just a mater of it is has one, and where the hell it is.
Cheers
Lol, well a change of fliud and a air to air, powersteer cooler might be needed {Under hard conditions there is a lot more heat transfered to the fluid, something that is hard working and uses the fluid often needs cooling and a bigger volume in the system}! if you want to see what a power steer cooler looks like just pm me!
