1GGE Replacement Alternator.... What other's can be used?

A bearing has packed it in on my 1G, Dose Anyone know if other toyota motors alternators are the same and if so which ones?

Ive tried doing a search and came up with nothing.

Any help would be awesome.

Hi mate use a 7mge one, will work + fit fine.

+1 7M-GE

it has an extra rib on the pulley but it still fits perfect, keep the belt on the ribs closest to the alternator

can you swap the pulleys over?

yep, sometimes is a PITA to get the pulley off tho.

but as i said for a 7M-GE alternator on a 1G you dont need to bother

7mge one wont work.........

the 3 pin plug on the back has different imputs/outputs, and such was putting power back thru the ign so you coulnt turn the car off via the key,

that was my experience with a 7m alt tho.

ive used a 7M-GE alt with my 1G-GE RA40 successfully

for what its worth, my 1G-GE was the late model map sensor version, it shat its alternator after prolly 2 years of solid daily driving, the 7M-GE alt had the same plug and bolted straight in and was working great when i sold the car.

i cant say what year the 7m alt came from but it was a cressy one, cause my old man had a MX83 at the time and we'd picked up a spare engine just in case his BHG.

I know some off the early 4M plug points were different between Some Crowns and Corona MKII's, especially with the early (pre-polution control Round Rocker Cover) and the late (Square rocker cover)
