Im doing the timing belt on my 1g, when i was shopping around for a timing belt i found out that the 1g belt has the same number of teeth in the same profile, and the same width as a 2j timing belt. anyone know a reason i cant use a 2j belt on the 1g? cause physically they look pretty much the same

my guess would be no-one's done it before (well, that and you posted when most people are at work/on their way home from work).
But if same teeth, same width, same profile, no reason it shouldn't work
wats the reason for not using a naw 1g timing belt they still available i got one the other week.
cheers steve,
24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case..................coincidence?

For future reference to myself and others double count the teeth on a timing belt rather than relying on the dude a autocheap whatever before making a post like this and avoid the embarrasment of revealing that the 2j belt has 143 teeth vs the 145 teeth on a 1g belt. coudld be potentially ~made~ to fit in a life death situation but definatly not recommended.

Seriously go to repco and get a Gates timing belt, it will be there the next day. I bet you paid more than $50 for your genuine one didn't you?

Appelsiini jaffaa!
It's listed in the book, they should be able to find it without the part #.

Very easy to get a 1ggte timing belt as everyone has said, no need for using another engines belt!

In Oz or NZ yes, but I presume it is a little more difficult in Jayem's part of the world.Originally Posted by JustCallMeOrlando
