Oh man... i wish i'd seen your post earlier parrot!. Do i know you? I don't recognise you by your username but might have met you in person.

Anyhow... it was a sweet day today as usual for the historics. The weather was particularly good for winton too.

I just had a look at the photos that my dad and i took and discovered that we mostly took pics of my relatives' cars in the pits. Not really a wide selection of what was there. Hopefully Ian or Joey got some good ones.

It was a great day. Gorgeous foggy panoramas on the way up in the morning. Beautiful weather all day, though a bit chilly later in the arvo. Oh, and some nice cars too.

Kehendo snapped up the spare pass so good it didn't go to waste.

Highlights? All the bike racing, especially the side cars. There is something about old bikes, and all the biker guys seemed to be getting on particularly well together without any sheep station racing. The final group Nb race especially between the mini's and the mustangs was awesome. The Delage in the carpark, what a stunning creation. The castrol R scent as always, particularly contributed to by some very smoky bikes, and also by an amazing 6litre Gypsy Fiat (I think). How they ever raced those old machines in the 20's boggles the mind. Oh and good to see after all these years, a winton steak sandwich is as good as ever.

Lowlights? Kehendo's KE20 wasn't let in to the club display, mind you the guy parking his ferrari in the carpark next to me didn't look too happy about it either. A couple of bikers looked to get fairly seriously hurt in an accident. And in the last race, a Cortina got destroyed by an EH. Almost total absence of anything Japanese. An RX2 and a Datsun 1600 showing well in the racing. A couple of TA22's, Datsun sports and a Prince GTA was about it in the paddock. There was a K engine in one of the old formula 2's though. And I forgot my camera.

    All up a great day.

I don't think I know you Slim. I was a CCCV person back in the mid to late 80's till my wife put a stop to all that.......

Ah that's ok... I was just asking in case i did know you but didn't connect the person and the username.

That RX2 was seriously impressive... it did well to beat the Camaro to the first corner and held off the Charger for the whole race.

On my way out Ian and i spoke to a bloke with a horrid lime green RA23 that mentioned the Cortina parked next to it had a 4AGZE in it. We got to take a look under the bonnet and sure enought, there it was. t'was quite the little sleeper.

I went around to penrite for that race and the RX2 was having all sorts of traction issues around the back, but of course so was the Charger! He was under serious pressure though. The other one I forgot was car 75, The MG Midget that came in 3rd behind the 911 carrera and the Alfetta. He was unbelievably quick.

Hopefully next year I will have the KE15 in the paddock display.

    hi guys
    as the others have said
it was a great 2 day event ,as slim mentioned we spoke to a guy about his bright mucas green ra23 it had the whole interior painted white even the seats , the guy said that he bought it like that , The interesting thing about the car is that they are going to enter it in the next variety club bash ,he will post up progress reports on this site ,as we gave him all the details about toymods etc
then on the way out oscar spotted a very good ta22
in the car park , so we went and chatted to the couple who owned it ,
i have forgotten the guys name ,however the ladies name is anne
the celica was bought brand new , and it has been in the same hands ever since
oscar quickly turfed the lady out so he could sit behind the wheel ,and make vroom vroom noises ,he had to , as the motor was already running ,and you could not hear it or feel it , it just ticked over ,silently

oscar after he flung the lady out

oscar again , looking like he is doing naughty things over the engine bay

I went up on Sunday with my Dad. Joey stayed in Shepparton on Saturday night and drove to Winton on Sunday. Oscar came on Sunday a little bit after me, i think.

The cruise didn't eventuate because it didn't seem like anyone wanted to.

Not sure people want to be seen in a cruise that contains a Renault Scenic! Hendo went past me like a rocket 30 mins out of Winton in the morning. I reckon he might have sped up.

Most of my old racing mates cried off as they were working on their cars. I suppose there are only so many things you can get to. I was lucky to get a day away from the family at all, as the kids are still a bit young to drag around with me all day.

But I suppose it is a fair way off, and an early start. If people are going, they just want to get there rather than wait around.

I was in the KE20 with Hendo, we knew were in a Renault, but not sure which one, so we both decided that it would be prudent to find out, as we passed parrot he gave us a big thumbs up, i think hendo was a bit relieved that the Rolla wasn't being snigered at.

Hendo and I had a great day, when Hendo spotted the 3K powered formular 2 he got all excited that his engine could possibly be used for racing, he has a 4K but still.

Some of the races were great fun to watch, like the ones with the Austin Sevens and the one with the Charger, camero, RX2 and best of all the minis.

T'was a pity that there weren't more Celicas there though, ah well maybe next year. If you haven't been before I strongly recomend going, you'll have a ball.
