    Default 7afe oil squirter block??

    hey all
been searching around about 7agte's and found a post on the old forums that got me wondering.

"already bought argo rods with aries pistons on a late oil squiter 7a block with 16v head with a gt25 turbine "

is there a series of the 7afe that came with oil squirters as standard?? if so what sorta year corollas do these come in?

pretty keen cause the extra oil cooling could be beneficial.
    cheers

Wouldn't surprise me if it's the lean-burn TVIS 7AFE, we never got it in Aus.

so basically its look for a hard to find standard block or machine the 20V ones in.
    hmm
is there much work involved with machining holes in a non squirter block. ive already got a 4a block with them for placement. like just drill and tap holes into the oil galleries in the right spots?

    bazda
ive seen your setup (very nice) and youve relieved the crank for them. is this something i can do or job for a machine shop?

    cheers

So how hard is it to put oil squirters in? and how do you go about it?

Relatively easily, you just need the right tools (or the right machinist with the right tools).

The oil galleries on a 7A line up in exactly the same place as 4A's, so you just have to mill four flat sections (so the squirters can sit flat and not leak everywhere), drill and tap into the oil gallery on each bore, and then drill locating holes (IF you want to, but not necessary). You literally replicate the exact same deal as GZE/SP/20V's.

So just take the measurements off a 4a and transfer across to 7a, do the cranks foul at all?

On the 7A i worked on (Oly 86 on ae86dc), the crank came within a few (3-4mm) of the bolt heads, but that's still more than enough that we weren't concerned.

Another thing you will have to check is that your piston skirts don't touch the squirters. Some aftermarket (and GZE) pistons have notches for the squirters, and some pistons have a more 'aggressive' slope on their skirts that they clear, but it pays to check.
