if its that bad oil wont fix it.
i have heard of ppl having issues with syncros after using redline. specifically glazing of the cones.
Just wondering what Redline(or other brand ) gear oil people would recommend for a worn 2nd gear syncro. Gear needs to be double clutched, or let revs return to idle to smoothly shift.

Penrite has a thinner oil listed for MR2s - Helped mine with scratchy changing
Took about 2 weeks for it to worm it's way around the internals
Probably could need a change now as it's most likely gunked up
with what's been washed out
I'll be refilling with the same and adding FPR (Ford Performance Racing) CM-19546-A1
So that's my 2c worth![]()
Mine was nowhere near that bad, but Nulon make a gearbox friction additive which did make a reasonable difference, after a couple of weeks. In the end, I changed the synchros for the E58 ones, that fixed it RIGHT upIf yours is that far gone, I'd say that's the only option.

It's only a temp fix, and I've read enough threads/posts here and around the web about additives/oils making something liveable for a period of time. Which is what I'm after.
Revhead, you are probably referencing this thread :

As referenced in the thread, it was the wrong type of Redline Oil used that glazed the syncros, the oil is very explicit that it shouldn't be used in syncro mesh gearboxes.
no im not talking about any thread on here

It can be a temp fix, but i'd be surprised if it helped here, it sounds like the synchro rings are totally gone...one way to find out! Try the Nulon stuff, I found it a lot better than the Redline oil I tried prior. Also, it's only $20 a dose...
