Exclamation Seat Belts to comply for regency - SA

    Hi Guys,

I had my regency inspection yesterday and they failed me for not having Aust comply seat belts. The car is a 1988 Toyota Cresta. I have tried to fit Cressida belts to it but they dont fit.
Also rang up an automotive place and they want $1,000 to fit 5 new belts.
If anyone can help me out on where to go and how much they should cost, it would be great help.
    Im in SA.

    thanks
    Kieran

    Give RareSpares a call.
They sell generic belts that should fit to almost any car.

I know it's not completely on topic, but the rear seat belts installed on my car during compliance are absolutely shit. The stock belts would have been much better and outlasted these crappy "ADR" spec ones.

Sigh I could also go on about the drivers side mirror. They're convex standard JDM spec, the bastards complying the car stuck on a stupid flat mirror and cut it to shape. Unfortunately this reduces the field of view dramatically. Australian standards? LOL!

Go and see Rory Thompson at APS. The shop he runs is sertified to compliance cars, so he may be able to test your current belts and pass them. Not sure if it would be cheaper, but if he can't do that he could certainly point you in the right direction about what to do.

Agreed, australian standards are crap. Import doors have to undergo a side impact test when the first one is complied, which they pass with flying colours, yet commodores completey shit themselves!
