e51 gearbox help

im swapping the gearbox in my aw11 and when i was taking the drive shafts out of the replacement (the wrecker had just left the tulips in) this metal flexi ring came out as in the photo. what is it? i couldnt seem to find it in the BGB

it could be synchronizer ring and hub sleeve for the transmission.. as according tohttp://www.club4ag.com/faq_and_tech_pages/aw11_mr2_tuning_guide.htm <<<that site, they can fail so check that

also im not 100% thats what it is... but that is my guess

kyle that is really crappy internet psuedo knowledge... it isnt even close to a syncro and not even in the right department

sleepy: is hazzard a guess given the blurry photo that it may well be the wire support ring from the inside of the drive shaft seal.

pop the seal out and id take a bet that the seal is missing the ring which will casue it to leak like a bitch when you put it in.. get the seal, eaisly avaliable from toyota for ab out $15 from memory. worth changing both of them as its buckets easier when its on the ground and you havent got the drop the oil out again etc etc

toof is correct...
it is a circular spring that sits around the inside lip of the drive shaft seal... which means the seal where that shaft came out of is no good till you pull it out and put the spring back in its place... can't be done while the seal is in the box.
