    Default 1UZ into 4WD LN65 Hilux

Currently I am fixing up an LN65 2.4L turbo diesel dual cab hilux. It had a blown headgasket when I bought it, replaced that and timing belt, water pump, bearings, seals etc. But while I had it idling one day the cam gear bolt decided it didn't want to be in there any more and I now have to do it all again plus replace bent valves (hopefully nothing else)

All this messing around and then finding out what a running 2L Turbo diesel is worth, got me thinking about a 1uz conversion.

    I bought a 1uz for $650.
Bought loom, ecu, ignitor etc etc for $175 (thanks IN 05 NT)

I have done a fair bit of searching and have found quite a few conversion on 4 runner, surfs, later model hiluxs and 2wd hiluxs, but there is very little info about for my particular model.

Before I start this conversion I want to have everything sorted and ready, so any hints or tips are more then welcome, I will take some pics and go step by step with the costs of the conversion. Hopefully it will help people in the future.

I realise the old G52 5 speed probably wont last long, but I have 2 of em, so I will see how it goes.

ive also been looking into this conversion as my ln65 is giving up, havent found too much yet.
550 is so cheap for a motor and adaptor.
i would like to find out if the r15x box and transfer will bolt up to the mounts and fit the tail shafts as id like to be able thrash it without worrying about killing the g52.

or you can come look at my old 4runner, its got a 93ish model landcruzer box which is a R154 box with different casing and transfer case mated up, their pricey (2500 im told) but it gets the shit kicked outta it from behind the 3.8 V6 in it now and it dont hesitate at all so thats one way to go

Just landed myself an R151F 5 speed, with chain drive transfer case, clutch and CRS bellhousing to fit the 1uz.

And as it happens the same guy had a complete exhaust from a 1uz hilux, so I bought that too.

Almost have all the gear together....

Radiator is the biggest problem with these, there isn't enough room for a decent fan, and they tend to cook while offroad in sand in L4.

Save up for a decent radiator (read: $1000+)
