    Default AE86 Stiffer Engine Mounts

    Hi,

I have a clubman car that uses a 4AGZE engine and standard AE86 engine mounts, it is used mainly on the track and has managed to tear quite a few standard engine mounts. I am currently using Landcruiser FJ20 mounts that are stiffer but have still torn.

So considering either making my own reinforced mounts or puchasing Cusco or these guys http://www.mmr-direct.com/, perfer not to go to solid mount at this stage.

Has anybody used Cusco or http://www.mmr-direct.com/ and had problems after hard use on track.i.e. tearing, splits etc

    Thks

    Chrs, PAt

Some of the Cusco mounts also lower the engine which may be of concern in your clubman.
TRD engine mounts do not lower the motor, are quite firm. I have not torn my TRD mounts, had them for 6 years. Have seen plenty of track time.

    Just another option.

Thks for the reply, yes was aware that the Cusco mounts are slighlty lower, not too worried as I have some packer plates that I made up to use as spacers for the other mounts that I can use.

Does not seem to be too many places offering the TRD mounts for sale, any idea of a good source for them ??

What about some Whiteline LS1 Mounts?

They have an adjustable angle and quite a few guys here are using them on 1MZs, 1G-GTEs, 1JZ-GTEs, and even Justen is using them (or similar) on his Twin Turbo 1UZ ST185 Celica.

    They look like this:

I had the same issue with my 4AGTE tearing the stock 4A engine mounts, the engine also used to move around far to much on the soft mounts at the track and on one particular dip at my local hillclimbs.

I fitted TD Cortina urethane engine mounts made by Kelpro. They hold the engine in place perfectly yet don't transfer hardly any (i.e. I can't notice any difference) more engine vidration into the cabin.

They are however about ~5mm shorter in height than my 4A mounts were so I simply cut a 5mm thick aluminium disc to use as a spacer to retain the same stack height.

Most spare parts shops stock Kelpro so they are easy to get hold of and are relatively cheap.

    I got mine from greenline:

About halfway down under 'TRD engine mount set' (ignore the picture)
