Hey,
Back to the original post, it ended being a faulty coolant temperature sensor!
This was giving incorrect information back to the e.c.u and making the
check engine light come on.
So yeh its all sorted. Cheers for the help!
ok, i cant really help you any more, beyond me!
but i would maybe talk to a good mechanic. whilst they may not be familiar with the 20vs, the codes and sensors etc are the same as contemporary toyotas.
but definitely try checking coeds whilst driving. i suggest taking a passenger to count the codes though!
I DONT WORK FOR TOYOTA ANYMORE
please, no more PMs!

Check the vvt transistor isn't blown. Dunno if it could cause the problem, but it's worth a look.

Hey,
I got a genuine one from Toyota for about $65 trade price. It only took about 2 days to get here ( to Adelaide from Melbourne). I only use genuine Toyota gear on my car, dont trust any other dodgy shit!!
Peace
Cheers Mate, really helpful! Mine is running a bit richer than I'd like... i might try to replace it for the guy who's buying it.
