Everyone knows the RTA is not exactly customer focused so in order to try and make life a little easier here are the links to the Forms you need in relation to Historic Rego.
First of all you need to get a manual pink slip and when gettingthis your pink slip provider needs to fill in a section on the RTA Application For Conditional Registration - Form No. 1246
Once you have your Pink Slip and filled in Application for Conditional registration you need to get the RTA's Historic Vehicle Declaration Form - Form No. 1259. This form needs to be signed by Toymods and get the Club seal so the RTA is happy your vehicle is actually eligible for Historic Rego.
When you come and see River (The clubs Historic Plate registrar) make sure you remeber to bring your pink slip and application form. River needs to sight those and some of the contained information if required by River.
Lastly you fill in the Toymods Historic Registration Form for Historic Rego and pay Toymods the megre $10 plate administration Fee.
Then its just taking the receipt of purchase for your vehicle and your Drivers licence with your Pink slip and 2 completed RTA forms to the RTA.
And thats it

Yes, this is only for NSW.
ACT RTA is very similar to the NSW RTA and if there was a Toymods chapter in the ACT then maybe things can be worked out.
But think on this... it costs $95 per annum to register/green-slip your clasic car. It is only a simple phone call to me to let me know when and why you're taking your classic out, where I log it down, and you're away. Easy and cheap.

I will have to check to be 100% sure but my understanding is you personally can live in ANY State, BUT your car must be garaged in NSW. It is the garaged address of the vehicle, not your home address that is the decider.

unless its possible to travel interstate just for the wkend?
I think it's fairly safe to say that if your car needs an engineers certificate due to modifications then it will not qualify for historic registrion as it is aimed at standard 30+ year old cars.Originally Posted by SillyCarS

farkurnell i think you dont qualify for historic rego because you have too many sweet old school cars that i would give my left nut for

The wheels need to be period style rims mate. No self respecting anyone whould have fitted those rims in the 60' or 70's.
With some suitable rims it would be great to see it on Historic Rego.
