    Default 4AG Flywheel step height?

As per title, is the 212mm 4AGE flywheel a 0.5mm or 1.0mm step height on the friction surface?

    Thanks in advance.

+Rep for conclusive answers, confirmation from a Toyota manual would be most appreciated.

    Cheers.

How about a photo of a 20V blacktop flywheel.....

.... can't say how much... but it does show a step

Pretty hard to tell (impossible actually) but it looks a little more significant than 0.5mm.

I've got one sitting at home, I can check tonight for you if you like. I have just had the surface machined but it shouldn't make that much difference?

BTW - just so I get it right, what exactly do you mean by step height? The difference in height of the clutch mating surface to the area which the pressure plate bolts to?

    Check for interest sake mate.

The step difference can make a big difference to clutch performance, so it has to be correct.

Step height is the height difference between the surface where the friction plate contacts and the surface the pressure plate bolts to.

hence the reason why the only way to do it properly is to take the clutch to the machinist and get the diaphram to be parralell when its bolted down tight.

it's the only real way to be 100% sure its correct

    cheers

All toyota flywheel step heights are 0.5mm, except the obvious like 4AGZE which is like 20mm or so.

    4AGE
    http://exedy.com.au/SpecSheet.aspx?S...eetRowId=39482

    "Flywheel Profile Dimension +0.5mm"

    4AGZE
    http://exedy.com.au/SpecSheet.aspx?S...eetRowId=39479

    "Flywheel Profile Dimension -18mm"

There are some people that build clutches with different specs, so check with your supplier
The spanner in my avatar is actually a 16mm, that's why it's still new

Just measured mine, its about 0.4mm after being machined. I didnt think much about it until you've mentioned it now and I think about. Should I be concerned?

playing with the flywheel step is not a good way of playing with the clutch,
as you will still only end up with pressure plate pressure on the plate,
but may run into problems where it wont release properly.

Wrong........... Iv come across various older Toyota flywheels with a 1mm step. Saying All toyota flwheels are .5mm is just a bit of an assumption
