Question Toyota Cresta 88 - Digital Speedo not working

    Hi Guys,

As topic title says my cars speedo is not working. It is digital and it is a 1988. everything appears to work but the speedo just reads as 0 and doesnt change.
If any one has had this problem please let me know how you fixed this.
Car is not complied yet so getting it anywhere is not so easy. so anything i can try at home before having to take it to a garage would be good.

    thanks in advanced

Does it have a speedo cable (ie, it could be broken or disconnected at either end), or does it run an electronic sender (which could be unplugged or faulty)

It will be a cable driven sender, but there will be some electronics once it gets into the cluster. I am not sure if the odomoter is mechanical or electric. If its the former and it ticks over, then the issue is electrical. If its the latter, then it could be either.

Or it could just be that the cable isnt plugged into the cluster properly, have you had a look as there should be a holder for the cluster end of the cable so it goes in when you install the cluster? Its the green thing behind the cluster.

Oh, and remove the silver box while you're at it if you dont want a constant bell above 105km/h. And have you got some pics of your car?
