help please 1uz questions

Hey all, after some advice please

!uz heater house outputs/ returns - where are they on en early crown motor? My motor was bought as a motor and had a hose at the back of the motor joining two pieces of metal pipe - which look like they could be heater outlets? im guessing they have looped them to test run the motor?

1uz soarer type exhaust gaskets? are they 2 piece or? can i make them out of that stainless perforated sheet if i cant get them from toyota?

On my celsior 1uz the heater hose outlet is two steel tubes on the back of the motor sticking up vertically, sounds like what has been looped together on yours.if you mean the header gasket where it bolts to the head they are 4 layer stainless and they would be a bitch to make.there is a heap of gaskets on US ebay if you cant get them locally.

next question, on the back of the upper intake manifold at the back there is a hole which looks like vapour line - it doesnt have anything bolted onto it on either my running crown half cut, a motor i have in bits and my motor in question - does it just vent to atmosphere as the threads dont look used?

Define vapour line?
There are 3 holes at the back, one is the brake booster vacuum feed (banjo style bolt), one is a general vacuum line, the other is for the EGR on USDM engines, we ignore it.

As for the gaskets if you have aftermarket headers you don't need them, I just run exhaust manifold goo instead.

Yeah it has the banjo style fitting in there hooked up, im thinking its the thing for the usdm engines, is it about 20mm round?

Yes, thats for the EGR, ignore it.

You can buy the manifold gaskets from any Toyota dealer

Theyre not cheap as far as gaskets go but theyre reuseable and a lot easier and neater than using gasket goo

now i gotta try and make a 2jz gearbox work behind a 1uz, wiring is the only thing thats getting me...any ideas where i can get diagrams?

thanks peewee - do u know where i could get the jzs161 aristo gearbox wiring from? would supra be the same plugs etc ud assume?

haha they are completely different. i have an early 1uz box with slip yoke output and ive got a late model 2jz box with flange output - theres one extra plug on the 2j box and wiring is completely different - ill just have to look over diagrams and see whats going on. Reason im not using the 1uz box is ive spent $1000 on a huge tailshaft to suit the 2jz box so i dont really want to change it. Wiring on the p/n safety switch was the same tho thank christ!

looked at lextreme and the 2jz supra diagrams they have are different coloured to the aristo gearbox wiring...sigh.....has anyone got any aristo diagrams?

Only the UZS131 Crown boxes had slipyokes.

i have one already but it still doesnt solve the aristo wiring woes as the crown box i have has no plugs/ wiring on it
