Default Clicking blow off valve on a 1jzgte

    Hi all,

I've just finished most of my conversion into my ra28 and ever since I got the motor running the blowoff valve has made this constant clicking sound.

Tonight I was mucking around and pinched the vacuum hose running to it and it subsequently stopped its clicking.

What would be causing this? Could a crack in the vacuum hose do it?

Also theres a little filter that splits off the vacuum hose just before the bov. Can someone explain what this does. Is it as simple as it looks. Just a little filter?

    Thanks

i think that little filter is actually a one way valve. the black side (marked with B) should be facing towards the front of the car, sort of downwards.

    Hi,

Maybe a particle or a piece of metal or plastic fell into the valve, causing it to make a clicking sound every time it vents, but you said it's a constant noise, so the valve is always making this noise?

Take the BOV out and take it apart to inspect it. You might need some needle nose pliers too.

It isn't a true 1 way valve... it is actually a restrictor...

It has more of a restriction in one direction as opposed to the other (It does allow flow in both directions).

My memory indicates to me (It's been a long time since I looked at how it worked), that it is used to 'damp' the closing/opening of the BOV

^ thats right. i took mine off yesterday and it allows decent flow in one direction and on a tiny bit in the other direction.
