Weber carb 34mm from XE-XF Falcon.Drill the factory falcon holes out to suit Crown manifold and bolts on without an adapter. Then fab linkages and rejet and your away.

Just wondering what other kind of carbies have folks used successfully on there 4M or 4MU Toyota Crown engines. I have a 1975 Crown that uses a 4MU unleaded head and I think because of either dirty fuel or water in the tank am having lots of trouble getting the engine to run without the putt, putt, putt, putt effect.

Was the 34mm Webber a factory fit on the XF-XE Ford..
yes, but with the stock jets it doesn't run well at idle or low rpm, so you will need to spend some money modifying it, or filling and drilling the jets.

Stock jets are 1.35mm primary and 2.10mm secondary.I ran this set up on my last 4M which I had in a MS 46 Crown wagon and it ran fine on idle and up till when the secondaries openened then it would flood itself but only if you mashed your foot flat but if you eased the pedal till the secondaries opened it wasn't bad but yes it does need jetting down on the secondary side.
And jets are easy to get and cost roughly $5-$10 each for memory.

My Dad has a sett of factory Twin SU carbys from a 4m he might be persuaded to sell for the right price ofcourse ( being as rare as they are )
