    Default question about the speedo

    Hi all,
just wondering if any of you know how to get the speedo right after installing a bigger final gear.

I have just installed a 4.7 in my sprinter's diff, and of course the speedo won't be right.
Does anyone know a easy way to fix this problem?
Or any electronic unit that I can use to adjust the speedo?

Also just wondering if anyone has any noise problem after installing a bigger final drive.
    I am running a new 4.7 and a Cusco 1.5 limo

and it makes a bit of noise... and a clunking noise when I am being rough on the clutch on the 1st and 2nd gear.

    Cheers.

There's a speedo drive in the gearbox which needs to be the correct ratio for your speedo.

Unscrew the speedo cable from the gearbox, and undo the 10mm bolt holding the little plate. You should be able to pull out the speedo drive. In the T50, there are 19, 21 and 22 tooth gears. A little further inside should be another gear with 5 or 6 tooth. You need to mix and match to suit your diff, speedo, tyres etc.

Gears can be taken out of K series box and other T series boxes (from AE71, etc).

There was a thread about this with a formula to calculate what you need, but I can't seem to find it anymore.

Edit: Going by your username, I'm assuming you're running a T50.

Edit no.2: You can change the gears or you can get your speedo gauge recalibrated, costs around $150+ from what I've read.

    Thanks for the info mate.
    yea, I am running a T50 atm.

I guess the easier way is to have someone recalibrate my speedo guage, but it seems there arent anyone here who will do it.
I am living in Hong Kong at the moment.

Those kits will only work in electronic speedo systems with a speed sensor. Our speedos are mechanical, it works on a cable with something spinning inside of it (don't know any other way of explaining it ).

The AE86 speedos are the eddy current type - the electronic speedo kit isn't compatible
    Good. Fast. Cheap.
