Default Which Pitman arms are interchangable between models? (MX22)

    Hey fellow modders,

    I am currently restoring my MX22 MK2 Corona (1974).
I am in the process of doing the steering and suspension.

Now, I need a new Pitman arm/balljoint, as the one I have is rooted. After doing my own search for parts or part numbers, I found absolutly nothing.

I went to a really good steering and suspension place to see what they could get. After looking in their books, they said the part is listed as "NLA (No Longer Avaliable)"
They said I would have to send the old one to Sydney (iam in canberra) and it would have to be reconditioned, with a price tag of $180!!!!!

So, My question is, What other models would share the same pitman arm?
(dont mention MX13, MX23, they are the same case)
Does anyone know if an RT104 corona has the same one, as i know they share the same front suspension and steering setup. I cant get access to one to check.......

Can someone take a photo of the whole arm for me, off a RT104?

    Thanks people,
    JoJo

Find the original part number, ring your auto shop or gimmecarparts.com.au, ask if the part number is the same as a 70's cressida.

I know the power steering box is interchangeable between the MX1/2's and MX32's.

MX1/2's share nothing in common with any corona. Your best luck is with another X chassis, ie which are all cressida's (except the mx1/2's in Australia which where called corona's) MX32 is best bet cause its the closest model.

A photo of a pitman arm of a HQ holden would look the same as what youve got, but im sure it wouldnt fit...

EDIT: looks like gimmecarparts is dead?

i went thru this drama looking for a new steering idle arm for my MX23

no parts store could get one any more, i rang everyone including the components manufacturers that supply all of the auto parts stores and tried to bribe them into doing a run of them. Came back with nothing.

the best i could get was my local supercheap had a supplier in japan who could get one with a few months wait, or i could get it reconditioned for $90

i chose not to wait and i got it reconditioned.

    thanks guys.
Rob, Did you end up trying a pitman arm from any other model? Did you ever try the RT104 one?

nope i didnt have to replace my pitman arm only my idle arm was worn, which i had rebushed and balljoint injected with whatever they use to inject it with.

I reckon u should pull the pitman arm off and go for a walk around the wreckers, compare it to mx32 and a bunch of other models.

if you have no luck $180 isnt too bad a price for reconditioning

this is where i got mine done, if you havent already called them for a price you might be able to get it cheaper than $180. Just note the price i was given was back in 2005.

    Turner Driveshafts & Steering
    7 West St Brookvale 2100 (02) 9905 0574

and they are able to rebuild my MX23 corona idle arm even tho they dont make them or the bushes anymore

he managed to hunt down a bush thats the correct size and is rebuilding now as well as reco-ing the ball joint.

he has then offered to post the idle arm back to me when its done to save me from driving all the way to brookvale again

    all for $95

    absolute champions!
