its not the battery(tried 3 different ones)

Is the car Automatic? If so perhaps you have not connected the Park/ Neutral inhibitor switch.

To find out if it is a wiring problem turn the key to the on position, then you can use a short piece of wire or an old screwdriver and use it to apply power from the main power cable at the starter that is connecting the battery to the starter motor and the small terminal on the starter that comes from the ignition switch. If it turns over but does not start then I would say you have either not connected something or have connected it incorrectly. If it still does not even turn over then I would suggest that the starter is faulty. There will be some sparks come from the terminal when you connect the power to it so make sure that you do not have any fuel leaks or spills before you try this. If it has a carby then it will naturally have to crank over enough for the pump to fill the fuel bowl. Good luck!
Sorry I had to leave before, there are a couple of other things that you should check, is the earth strap connected to the engine? When you turn the key to the start position do the dash warning lights go out when it goes click, if they do you may have a bad connection somewhere.

This happened to me, when I turned the key after wacking a lumpstick in my 4K, the "brake" light would click and flicker when ever I turned the key, I forget what it was, but I think it was just a bad connection. Clean your terminals if need be.

    Goodluck,

If you still hear a click, maybe the relay is faulty or fuse is gone?
    ...worth checking anyway.

    Cheers,
    Nathan.

have tried all the suggestions, pulled all connections off and cleaned them,
redone all earth connections, changed starter motor, dash lights stay on when i turn the key, powers going to everything, but alas i still just get a click from the starter relay under the dash and thats all,
my brain hurts from trying to work this out.

Have you tried applying power directly to the small terminal on the starter as I suggested a few days ago, if it does not turn over when you do that and you have plenty of battery power and a good earth then I think that you still have a faulty starter or the engine is seized or has a cylinder full of liquid, that could be water, petrol or oil. Have you tried turning the engine over with a socket or spanner on the front pulley bolt? By doing the direct power to the solenoid method you eliminate all of the switches and relays that are in the electrical circuit as you are taking the power directly from the battery.
