Default RA 40 18R Carb Linkage.

I have a bit of a puzzling question for all you RA 40 Celica owners or past owners.
My step son has a fairly neat automatic 18R powered RA 40 Celica and what I need to know is does the linkage that goes from the firewall to carb supposed to be upside down on autos?I have owned a few 18R powered Coronas and such but there linkage isn't upside down what gives?
Pics would be good if ppl have also.
    Cheers Brett.

I have had the manual and the auto ra40 and I think that they are both identical in their operation, the difference between the two is that the auto has a semi circle on the shaft that goes from firewall to carby for the kickdown cable. Havent got any recent pictures for you though. The linkage is an absolute POS though.
Getting your missus to help bleed the brakes isn't everybody's idea of quality time.
