idle air screw on afm
Hey guys got a gen 3 1ggte running stock ecu in an sa63.
I bought the car with the engine already in it so i'm still checking all of the setup.
However whenever i start the car from cold it needs maybe 10% throttle to fire and then needs around 5% throttle to stop the engine from stalling. While doing this the engine will increase revs up and down in the range of say 500rpm.
After a minute or so i can drive around without worrying that the engine will stall.
I have already cleaned out the ISCV and reset the ECU.
Can you suggest any other things i could check?

Cough 'yaris' Cough - don't ask.
Check water temp sensor and TPS adjustment too. The bouncing revs sounds like decel cut to me which it should not do off idle.

Thanks guys will take a look tomorrow and let you know how i go.
sounds like the water temp sensors, they are under the dizzy. The plugs on mine became brittle and fell off at one stage at the car pretty much behaved how you described.

Check to make sure the ISCV is getting power, and that the TPS is going into IDL mode.
Those two affect the idle more than anything else.
Use the online MA70 TSRM if you don't know what I mean.

Thanks guys might get a chance wednesday to take a look.
On the TSRM however they are for the 7mge and 7mgte. Do they use the same tps?? The throttle bodies are definately different.
Did have a quick play with the ISCV and it is getting power and moves correctly when grounded.
Same TPS, but only the IDL/E2 contact matters.
The rest is somewhat meaningless.

ISCV working correctly and i put a new gasket in for it.
TPS adjusted and is reading correct about .5k ohm until .5mm open throttle then it goes open.
Quick look at the temp stuff below dizzy and it appears connected.
No error codes on the ECU.
Extra info:
Car does blows a medium amount of white/grey smoke when started from cold, but also on either heavy acceleration or shifts. (i think on shifts)
Car is loosing water from around the water pump as it has been silicone sealed, however it seems like a smallish leak for the amount i have to keep filling the radiator.
OH also forgot the car was set to 12 BTDC on idle which i changed back to 10.
Car is a little smoother now but still surges on cold start.
