Yeah with rods and pistons that cheap, undamaged crank and bores etc, this might actually work out! I'd pick it apart and see what exactly blew up before buying much stuff though. You might need undersized bearings or oversize pistons or something...

    Yea that's true,

    Couple of questions:

Is that valve angle in all 3S-G engines the same at 44.5 degrees? Even the BEAMS 3S-GE heads? Just need to know for sure... don't want VVTi sending the valves into piston heaven

Can anyone confirm the head volume and piston dish size in the ST215 3SGTE? I'm under the impression that the ST215 pistons wont drop the compression that much at all

Have a look through this thead

    http://www.toymods.net/forums/showth...ht=beams+power

There is much talk about Pistons for a turbo Beams Build.

Keep us informed of the Pistons you end up using, will be good to know that ST215 pistons may or may not fit.

Hi Guys... A bit of an update!

Pulled the motor to bits and found that one of the conrods was bent and twisted slightly, bearings all looked ok, so thats a bonus!

I'm going to be replacing all the rods + bearings using ST185 rods and ACL bearings. I'm getting the factory bearings measured tomorrow to see if the ACL ones will give me the right clearences etc.

When selecting the ST185 rods is there anything I need to take into consideration? I noticed that on the top of the pistons there is a 2C stamped into them. I know that the '2' represents bore size, and should match the number on the top of the block by each piston but what about the 'C'?

The rod has '23 CM 2' stamped on the side. I assume that the '2' is factory bearing to use (1.488 - 1.492mm) and that the 'C' somehow relates to which piston to use with the rod?

Is that how it works? So when chosing ST185 rods I need to get rods marked with a 'C' or not?

Sounds like you have a tuning job as well as a rebuild on your hands... almost certainly detonation caused that bent rod.
