Question MA61 Open Centre to LSD

I currently purchased a parts car with an LSD in it. My daily driver is open centre and am going to swap diffs over. All the mounting of the diff and the tail shaft end seem the same, but do i need to use the LSD C.V. joints? Are they different from open centre ones? What else is different? Or is this basically a straight swap?

    Cheers, Judd

Diffs should be a direct swap, I am almost 100% sure, but someone else may confirm.

once you drop your diff out, you'll be able to see if it will be a direct boltup

from memory, the LSD and open for the ma61 are identical from the exterior apart from that cool LSD oil sticker you have

As stated. Identical! (assuming that both your supras are AUS del / have F series diffs, none of this JDM T series XX junk!)

Also for future reference if you need a cheapy replacement or a ratio change, the 4.1 F series from a MX73 cressida or the 3.5 F series from a RA65 will both slot straight in

And for more future reference (aimed at wilbo666!!) not all JDM XX's came with a T series diff... I have a F in my XX from factory Mine came with a 1G-GE instead of say, JCMF's which had a T standard.

The diffs in these cars are easy to work with too, you should have no troubles.

    I'll agree with that!

The only pain with the F is going to the local wrecker only to find every car with an IRS F series diff has had the damn diff removed

Ahff, I wouldn't get too stressed about that, every MA61 diff I've ever seen has the LSD completely shagged anyway - they were set up rather loose from the factory, and only wore out from there.
