Who'd you deal with in parts? I work there in service and they are usally pretty good, except for the new girl. As long as you know what part you want and for what exact motor/car.Originally Posted by strat
Part supersession has nothing to do with the dealerships. I haven't had any problem with supersession before.
Chuck us a PM if you need anything. Can usually get a better price than most places too. And I know my way round the inport part finder better than them (especially the new girl).

have you run the engine with this cam belt?
if so, is it making the usual whining noise?
maybe your just assuming theres a problem?
otherwise you wouldnt of got the belt on if it was too short or the wrong one..![]()
Dude both the girls have no idea, sorry to say, i tryed to order a new intake manifold gasket and i waited two weeks for it only to be a N/A one and she turend around and said that that is the only one avalible and told me to use it anywayOriginally Posted by Gavatron
because her computer told here it was correct. WRONG!! yeah right a 5k + race motor with the wrong gasket sure ill do that...
and the other blonde chick, i tryed to get a oil pump only for her to tell me that there are none in the country and there was nothing she could do about it and you just cant get one (bullshit) so after 5min off pissing around i got it out of her that i could get one from japan with a six week wait and a price tag of $280
, so i just told her how stupid that was, went home rang jarvis toyota got one in two weeks and $220. and all the bulshit of you need a vin number etc thats crap... yeah sure you can have my RA40 vin number you wont find any part numbers for a 3S with that. if you havent had any probs with superseded parts then you cant be doing any major work on a SW20 3SGTE.

Belt is 178 teeth. I have a feeling that the problem might lie in the modified 5S pump, are there any offet differences with the 5S oil pump, other than the smaller pully? i will be changing this pump anyway as i just got my new 3S pump today.

change the oil pump gear to the gen 2 3sge 1 and it will be ok as 5s use square teeth and it also might be bigger strat
yeah i did change the pully and the 5S pully is smaller, i had to shave a bit of ally off also to get the gear to fit. im thinking the pump shaft is slightly offset and that is why im getting the tight belt, so i will be fitting the proper 3S pump and see how that goes.

are you using the last of the 5s oil pumps from camry that has the crank shaft angle sensor at all .as these oil pumps have the biggest oil volume out of all of the 3s oil pumps ,bar the altezza 1s
No im not, its an aftermarket pump, it does not have provisions for a crank angle sensor, i was asked when i bought it if i needed the one with the crank angle but i was unsure of this option so i didnt go for it. we did open it and compare it with the stock GTE pump that came off the motor and the 5S was bigger internaly.
I have just checked out the belt situation again and it appears to me that we have an issue with the pully bracket. it is hard up on the tensioner which makes it full tight with no adjustment i have another pully bracket that is a different shape that looks like it will allow the pully to drop back a bit further, so ill give that a go. after looking at all my parts it seems as though out of the three gen 2 motors i have there are three different pully brackets...i hope you can understand what im trying to relay as i am starting to confuse myself

Hi all i found the problem with the tight cam belt and it was the tensioner pivot arm. but now i have a new problemIt seems as though the cam belt is running forward on the cam gears, after alot of dicking around we have found that the crank that is in the motor has a square face were the front gear sits on were as the three other gen 2 cranks i have have a beveld edge. My question is what F'ing crank is in my motor? Im thinking 2S 3SFE or a modified 5S. Anyone out there know what crank has a square face that the front gear sits on (the gear in front of the oil pump, not the oil pump pully but the main crank gear)

I am going to try and fix the problem by taking just under 2mm off the back of the crank gear so it sits closer to the front seal.
