Yep for the purposes of repairs or registration only, I think you'd have a hard time convincing anyone a trip to the drags was for either, a trailer is more appropriate in this instance.

Normally a permit is only valid if you are on the way to pits or a mechanical workshop to get work done... That's legally anyway...I drove my supra everywhere under permit...

You do have to tell them where you are going though when applying for the permit...if you tell themyou will be driving your car from home to a workshop in say myaree and you get pulled over in kwinana, you're screwed..

yeh, what i figured, permit only for repairs or pits, and i cant see the cops listening to any bullshit IF i get pulled up. (havent been pulled up both times when using permit - but dont want to risk it either) id make sure the permit would be covered from fremantle to kwinana....i wonder if i could say i needed to go the plex for tuning issues? or testing issues for the car?...

what would happen if i did get pulled up??

trailer hire + another car = alot more effort and money.

i cant see the cops listenin to that, but if you arent driving like a knob the chances of getting pulled up are slim to none IMO.
i have driven the 28 with a 1j for over 8 months now daily, been pulled up 7 times and none have said anything about the motor...
its your own skin, if you have a record of driving beyond the legal limits, and have a bad tag agaist the car, then probly not a good idea...
if you nanna it all the way there and back...who cares?

cops are usually ok, if you dont give them lip or act like a cock then they're normal.

the only time ive gotten a power tripped i was in the Ute so i had nothing to lose from giving him a bit of his own back, and thats just what he got, at the end of the day, no harm done

yeh, well the car will be all tuned this week.

the fact driving around with no plates and bonnet scoop at night worrys me...ill see how brave i feel, 48hour permit might slide with some, might not with others...the instances you guys have mentioned is when your car is still registered, mine isnt.

would really like to see what it could do though.

still trying to figure out how i can use this repair thing to my advantage.

hey man... i heard Bayka bought ya z20... sweet...

i would love to see your car down there and hear it.. but the situation you are in means that if you get pulled over.. if the cop wants to be a ****.. you are up for a $600 minimum fine, possibly more... and a tow home...

What you can do is find a workshop around the motorplex.. drive down while its still light and say you are on the way to drop it in to get engineered or whatever... on the way home, wipe your numbers off before driving home.. then you can say you picked your car up from a workshop and are heading home with it... just dont have a helmet and run slips in your car..

I cant remember if permits only allow you to drive until a certain time though.,.. from memory i dont think they do coz i remember diving my unregistered supra at around midnight to change some seatelts to get over the pits..

Oh yeah.. im in for the 11th..

I'm not available on the 11th Damo, so can't join you guys.

I reckon if you don't have number plates, I wouldn't risk it - my 10cents.
